The deadline to fill out our nomination form has passed, but you can still run from the floor on March 22nd. All the answers submitted by our candidates are listed below:

MCDP Chair:

Nominee: Allie Phillips
Vision: It’s time for democrats to think outside the box and not continue to follow the textbook definitions of what we “should” be. Republicans have a strong hold in our state and they didn’t get there because they played by the rules. I envision a party that’s not afraid to speak up, stand out & organize whenever possible.

Remaining active in our community is extremely important. Democrats should be at as many public and private events as possible, sharing our message and encouraging others to join the fight. No longer should we hear, “I didn’t realize there were democrats here.”

I will work alongside the officer team to ensure tasks are being done and communication is always present. We will work as a team and pick up any slack as needed. We grow together, we fail together and we learn together.

With the current political climate, my vision is to continue to show others that there is still hope. To remind them that movements don’t happen overnight but if we stay committed, we can make anything happen. I see a party that’s inclusive and welcomes members from all different walks of life.

I’d argue and say MCDP is the best county party in the state, but it’s important to remember that we can always be better. We will grow, we will fight and we will win. But only if we’re all in.

1st Vice Chair – Communications

Nominee: Rebecca Janssen
Vision: I have served as Social Media Manager and Communications Deputy for MCDP. My vision is to build a strong communications team that engages voters, counters misinformation, holds the opposition accountable through messaging, and amplifies the Democratic message. My team will use every platform to inform, mobilize, and inspire the community, ensuring our party and candidates are well-represented.

2nd Vice Chair – Fundraising

Nominee: Christine McKinney
Vision: I would enlist a team that would be empowered to take charge of certain aspects of fundraising – merchandise selection, design and promotion; the Blue South Booster program; Small Dollar fundraising events; and the large events of the Blue South Banquet and Blue South BBQ, to name a few. I would endeavor to find additional sources of revenue to further increase our ability to fund the activities needed to grow the Party and elect more Democrats to office.

3rd Vice Chair – Political Affairs

Nominee: Mary Richards
Vision:
I’d like to hold voter and constituent listening sessions during the beginning of 2025 which would evolve into candidate recruiting events to be held on a regular basis towards the summer and fall of 2025. I want to ensure we have a robust training program for candidates as well as a fully developed support system of resources to enhance and uplift their races. I will work with the all the committees to ensure candidates’ messages are being boosted, they have assistance with fundraising and compliance, and access to a large pool of volunteers for voter outreach in many forms. Other ways to support candidates will be to distribute mailings on their behalf and host forums and meet and greet events to take some of the logistical burden from their teams.

4th Vice Chair – Grassroots Outreach

Nominee: Rosemary Hall-Valentine
Vision:
My vision for this position is to bring in new individuals to the table. I will attend and speak at various group functions, sharing with the attendees why we need them to include church meeting, women’s conferences, barbershop, beauty salons and community recreation centers. I will continue to accept speaking engagements sharing my concerns and visions for our city and country. Lastly, I will continue to motivate and encourage our young citizens to get and stay involved through my work as youth advisor for the NAACP.

Treasurer

Nominee: Lori Bryant
Vision:
I have served the MCDP as Deputy Treasurer for the past year. It is important to me to ensure that donations are properly accounted for and used. In my career, I have been a public servant, working in governmental purchasing for the last 22 years. Service as treasurer would be an extension of my work in public service. My vision for the treasurer’s office is to support the work of the MCDP by providing responsible reporting and advice on whether a project or purchase would be advised based on cash flow and projected donations.

Trustee

Nominee: Garfield Scott
Vision:
Garfield’s vision is to build a team that includes an office manager, office volunteers, and others. He would hold regularly scheduled meetings of the team to ensure that all is taken care of. He would like to see us budget for a monthly janitorial service.

This leadership team will guide the party through the critical 2026 elections, ensuring continued Democratic victories in Montgomery County!
