Montgomery County Democrats Call for Resignation of Councilmember Travis Holleman

Travis Holleman

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Clarksville, TN, July 2, 2024, Resolution No. 4, put forth by LGBTQ+ Caucus Chair Dr. Rod Mills, has received approval from the Montgomery County Democratic Party. The resolution demands the resignation of Clarksville City Councilmember Travis Holleman.

The resolution is in response to what Councilmember Holleman said at a city council meeting on Friday, June 28, before Clarkville’s Pride Festival, “C-Pride.” His comments spread harmful false information and hurt our community’s values of acceptance by severely mischaracterizing the LGBTQ+ community. In response, the resolution encourages Councilmember Holleman to tender his resignation. If he fails to resign, the Montgomery County Democratic Party urges that the Clarksville City Council censure him for his actions and remove him from all governmental leadership positions within the city.

“Councilmember Holleman has not faithfully represented the true interests of his constituents. We strongly oppose any form of discrimination or misrepresentation that endangers the well-being of Clarksville’s LGBTQ+ community,” said Charles Uffelman, Chair of the Montgomery County Democratic Party.
