Statement by MCDP chair, Charles Uffelman on the passing of former MCDP chair, Gene Lewis

Gene Lewis and the entire Lewis family are known for their service and leadership throughout our community.

As a young freshman in high school wanting to help elect Barack Obama I turned to the Lewis brothers to get involved. With patience and integrity they helped me launch what became my career. Many others across our community have similar stories of Gene serving and bringing more people into the important work of politics.

He was a trusted advisor to mayors, governors, and senators through the years. His guidance will be sorely missed.

Join me and the entire Montgomery County Democratic Party in giving thanks for the life and witness of Gene Lewis as he goes home today. We renew our commitment to live up to his example by continuing to serve and build a table big enough for everyone to have a seat.
